Last but Certainly Not Least… Rome! 🇮🇹
“The
Eternal City” — a
nickname well-earned. Rome is vibrant, artistic, ancient, and full of timeless
charm. The city was bustling and hustling with life, and while it shared some
similarities with Florence — such as stunning architecture and rich history —
Rome stood out in its own iconic way.
From colossal
ruins like the Colosseum and the Roman Forum, to intimate piazzas
and quaint cafes, every street felt like stepping through a historical
timeline. The mix of ancient world meets modern vibrancy made this city an
unforgettable part of the journey.
During my
visit, I hit up some of the must-see spots (and a few surprises along
the way). Here’s how you can make the most of your Roman holiday:
The Colosseum
One of the Seven
Wonders of the Modern World, the Colosseum is the icon of Rome.
Standing inside its massive stone arches, it’s hard not to imagine the roar of
the crowd during gladiator battles centuries ago.
Tip: Book your tickets online in advance to avoid the
massive lines. Consider a skip-the-line + underground tour to see the
gladiator tunnels beneath the arena floor.
Location:
Piazza del Colosseo, 1, 00184 Roma RM, Italy
Tickets: Official Colosseum Tickets
Best time: Early morning before the big tour groups arrive.
The Roman Forum & Palatine Hill
Right next
to the Colosseum, the Roman Forum was once the political and social heart of
Ancient Rome. Wandering through its ruins is like walking through an open-air
museum. Palatine Hill, just above, offers panoramic views of the Forum and the
city.
Tip: Your Colosseum ticket usually includes entry to
the Forum and Palatine Hill, so plan to visit them together.

The Vatican Museums & Sistine Chapel
Home to Michelangelo’s
ceiling masterpiece in the Sistine Chapel and some of the most valuable art
collections in the world, the Vatican is an absolute must. It’s overwhelming in
the best way possible.
Tip: Book an early entry ticket to enjoy the
Sistine Chapel before the crowds. Dress modestly (shoulders and knees covered)
as you’re entering religious sites.

Trevi Fountain
Possibly
the most beautiful fountain in the world — and legend says if you toss a coin
in with your right hand over your left shoulder, you’re guaranteed to return to
Rome.
Tip: It gets packed during the day. Visit early
morning or very late at night for fewer crowds (and more romantic vibes).

The Pantheon
This
ancient temple-turned-church has stood for almost 2,000 years — and its massive
dome still amazes architects today. Stepping inside, the sheer scale and beauty
take your breath away.

spots in the city

After 13
days exploring Paris, Venice, Florence, Pisa, and Rome, I can honestly
say this trip was one of the most unforgettable experiences of my life. From
sipping hot chocolate under the Eiffel Tower, gliding through Venice’s canals,
standing in awe before Michelangelo’s David, climbing the Leaning Tower of
Pisa, and tossing a coin into the Trevi Fountain — every city had its own
magic.
But with
all the magic also came some hard-earned lessons I wish I had known
before going. So here’s my gift to future travellers:
